Liability insurance is what most of us purchase to protect ourselves if we're in an accident, someone blames us for causing that accident, that coverage applies. If I have $100,000 in coverage and someone sues me, my insurance carrier is obligated to pay that amount of money, and also, sometimes more importantly, to defend me if I'm sued.
