If you start with a very severe injury where someone's lost consciousness for a period of hours, maybe even in a coma, and come out of it, there discombobulated. They're not right. You can tell right off the bat. Unfortunately, a lot of these cases are much more subtle than that. There are people that have brain injuries and aren't even necessarily totally aware of it for a while. They have word finding issues, they have other things that are signs of a brain injury that may not be as apparent as someone who had a skull fracture, for example. It's very difficult to discern these things, and that's why you need some expertise to bear. Usually it involves a neuropsychologist or a psychologist to assess the situation.
